Our Story

At Sun Valley Greenhouses, we are passionate about the environment, going back to our roots and sustainability. From the start, this vision has always been an important part of our business. We are not only a business, but a family, a team who wants to bring joy and happiness to those looking to find their way back to nature.

There is a definite growing interest in food security and backyard farming in our province and the rest of Canada. Sun Valley Greenhouses started in 2016 in our very own back garden. Our family owned and operated business grew from a passion and hobby for building and growing to what it is today.

We take pride in bringing our handcrafted product to customers while providing a quality and durable greenhouse that will hold up to the harsh Canadian winters. We also take great joy in making outdoor back garden dreams come true for our clients along with customizing the inside to their vision. Whether our product is used for growing or an outdoor oasis, it brings us great pleasure to see how satisfied our purchasers are.

Our St. John’s location and Head Office is proud to service the Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland. In the spring of 2020 due to the increasing demand for such a product, we expanded province wide with a second location in Central Newfoundland – Grand Falls-Windsor. The fall of 2020 has introduced two other expansions due to many requests off island. We were pleased to welcome aboard East Petpeswick and Windsor, Nova Scotia and Moncton, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island. The fall of 2022 we were excited to expand into the Peterborough area of Ontario.  Stay tuned for more locations coming soon. All locations service the entire provinces they are situated in.

Meet Our Founders

SCOTT + KIM WILSON

From a very young age, Scott had a love for the outdoors and gardening. Always designing flower beds and planting trees, bushes and shrubs to make the family home more appealing. Kim grew up with one grandfather in NL having greenhouses and entering flower shows, while her other grandfather and great grandfather in NS ran a successful farm in the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia for many years. The country has always been one of our happy places to spend time. The outdoors + produce = a place like no other. A place to get away from it all.

Our approach to the business is a simple one – provide a quality product while making customers growing and sustainability dreams a reality.

Scott + Kim Wilson are not contractors by trade but graduates of Memorial University, Mount Saint Vincent University and Marine Institute. Scott is a firefighter – a lover of helping those in need and making our community a safer place to live. Kim is a primary school teacher – lover of learning, passing on knowledge and helping the youth.

The world of building had additional plans for this couple and their children. Scott + Kim have always taken on new projects around their home but didn’t realize that building the first greenhouse in their back garden as a hobby would turn into a full time business adventure. This move from hobby to business turned reality five years ago after so much interest by friends, neighbours and family wanting the same product. Sun Valley Greenhouses got its name from one of our first customers, Scott’s sister. She lives on Sun Valley Drive and the name seemed to be fitting.

MEANING BEHIND THE NAMES

Sun Valley Greenhouses are proudly displayed in many scenic and beautiful areas in our province. This in turn inspired us to name each model after the culture, beauty and charm of cities and towns across our rugged province. With expansion to other Canadian provinces, our locations have followed suit in naming the different models after notable places that have special meaning to these provinces and the people that reside there.
